Today, we're going to discuss something very important. Are you ready?
Let's talk about the perfect partner.
There's so much a partner does aside from bringing money into the house and acting as a provider, not only to his or her family but to your family too.
A physical union is more often than not surrounded in family politics but don't let that scare you. Relationships can be simple, but most of the time, they are very complex.
I think the biggest thing in a loving relationship is to trust the other person and understand loyalty. Loyalty is a tenet of any successful relationship.
There may be some doubt surrounding the topic of loyalty. Each to their own, I say.
Kindness is another aspect of relationships that I admire. Being kind to the one you love is paramount.
Relationships are not fun all the time. They can be gruelling and sad. But when times get tough, the tough get going. That's one of my favourite mantras.
Fun is also important. Fun can be anything from a game of Dance Dance Revolution, or simply giving your partner a hug when he or she needs it most.
I learn from my mistakes. I'm not perfect but I try my best at this. Due to my father's departure from my life at the age of eighteen, I often found it difficult to show emotion in a situation that demands an emotional response. Now, I'm working on my issues and trying to be a more loving and caring partner.
Emotionally responding to a situation is important, if not the most important thing in any relationship. Regardless of how much apathy I feel, I am trying to build a better relationship with my partner.
Trust is the first brick to be laid in any relationship. Without trust, there can be no relationship. I often struggle to trust people myself, again due to my father's departure from my life. But I am slowly learning how to trust again. This is a real life example from my life.
Trust can be built through exercises with your partner, or significant other. I like the exercise where I stand and then fall into his arms and he catches me. I was petrified to even try this exercise but now that I have, safety is achieved.
Safety for me is another big factor. Due to my past, I feel that safety is one of the most important parts of any relationship. I try not to smoke or drink as much as I can. This also helps build trust with my partner.
Finally, someone to cry with is another goal of mine in a relationship. Times aren't always simple and people do have mental breakdowns. Recently, after a stint in the hospital, I realised that life isn't always happy, and having someone to cry with through the tough times is very important.
